Make Spain Your Office: Digital Nomad Visa is Now Available
Rejoice! Spain is the latest EU country that offers digital nomad visas. This scheme, part of the recently approved Startup Law, aims to make Spain a leader in attracting investment, innovative entrepreneurship, and talent.
Spain is a country of exquisite beauty, filled with amazing landscapes and stunning architectural marvels that have stood the test of time. With a rich cultural heritage, vibrant cities, and a warm and sunny climate almost all year round it is no wonder that Spain is one of the most popular destinations in the world.
Remote workers and digital nomads who are non-EU/EAA nationals can apply for the visa, regardless of whether they are self-employed or employed by non-Spanish companies. However, to be considered eligible for the visa, applicants must not have resided in Spain for the five years leading up to the application and must not be staying illegally in the country during the application process.
Eligibility:
Applicants must demonstrate at least three months of work experience with their clients or company and prove their ability to work remotely.
The company they work for must have been active for at least one year.
Applicants must have either a minimum of three years of work experience or be graduates/postgraduates from renowned universities, vocational training courses or prestigious business schools.
To be eligible for the visa, applicants must earn 200% of Spain's monthly minimum wage, which is currently €2,334 per month or €28,000 per year, to show financial self-sufficiency.
Spouses and children can also apply to join the visa holders in Spain, and an additional 25% of the threshold income is added for each family member.
